Gemtech Silencers

Gemtech

I ordered a Gemtech Outback II supressor for my .22 firearms at the end of February. Apparently they will drop the sound level from about 150db to 110db, where 140db is where permanent hearing damage can occur.

Once the Suppressor/Silencer arrives I can thread it onto my Walther P22 pistol with an adapter I ordered, but I can also have my Glock .22LR conversion kit threaded to use the same silencer, as well as my .22LR rifles too!

Silencers are controlled in much the same way as machine guns and are called NFA items, which require a $200 tax stamp to transfer. There is of course a financial and paperwork burden - $200 for a federal transfer tax stamp, 2 passport photos, 2 sets of fingerprint cards, a signature on the transfer form by the Sheriff, and a 3-6 month wait to take posession. I discovered you can speed things up by by-passing the sheriff signature by having your LLC buy the suppressor. You can even sell the LLC later, and all the NFA items that your LLC owns will go with it.

I will post updates on this later, as I go through the process.
